Expedite pending works, Nayak tells officials

Reviewing the progress of works of various departments here, he discussed with officials where the progress was less than 75 per cent.

He asked them to give priority for energising the borewells sunk under the Ganga Kalyana scheme. The deputy commissioner was asked to hold a meeting of officials of the departments concerned to complete all the pending works.

 Whatever money available in the departments should be spent towards completion of the pending works before March.

The deputy secretary of the zilla panchayat said they have prepared an action plan for ` 153 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme for the year 2011-12.

The Union Government has given its approval for the `221.65 lakh action plan for the Western Ghats project. The agencies concerned are informed about the implementation of programmes.

Seven buildings are sanctioned for gram panchayats of which 12 are in progress and five are ready. Under National Biofuel project, ` 35 lakh has been spent.

Nayak also reviewed the progress of departments of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, social forestry, fisheries, sericulture, education, adult education, youth services and sports.
