While nearly 2,400 of them wrote the aptitude test, about 500 short-listed job-seekers appeared for the interview with a handful of them being recruited.

The job fair is the company’s initiative to provide a common platform to job aspirants and companies. It provides a large number of options to candidates as well as the companies.

Zafar Faridi, Chief of the Organising Committee, says the initiative does not, in any way, aim to make money. AMA Business aspires to build a brand for itself by attracting the candidates, freshers as well as experienced professionals.

Not less than 75 companies, including 25 firms which directly hire candidates, are taking part in the fair.

“Job aspirants have to just walk in, get registered, and write an aptitude test that will be valid for all companies. If selected, they can appear for interviews as well,” he adds.

Candidates took the test in batches of 400 and SkillRack, an automated evaluation firm, came out with results within half an hour.

Karthikeyan C, CEO of the company, says: “Each answer script was scanned in just three seconds using high speed document reader scanners. Later, the answers were tallied with the correct answers already stored in the server and results were declared in about 20 minutes.”

A few candidates who scored 60 percent and above were randomly chosen to attend interviews. Harshitha S, a BE (telecom) graduate from Vemana Institute of Technology, appeared for the interview. She hopes to hear from the company soon.

Varun K P, another BE (telecom) graduate from the same college, was luckier as a company hired him. Candidates with work experience of two years and more had to directly attend the interview.
