The incident occurred when the head constables - Sharanappa Bennigol and Jinappa Siraguppi were trying to close down a roadside makeshift hotel.
The head constables noticed a roadside hotel open even after 11.30 pm.
Heated exchange of words
They directed the stall owner to close down, but the owner refused to do so. Soon the owner and the police had a heated exchange of words. A few miscreants, who were having food, attacked the head constables and fled.
The police have arrested one person, Venkataramanappa of Mahadevapura in this regard.
