Take each day as it comes, is Michael Yardy’s mantra for this Cricket World Cup. Michael has been in the City for more than a week playing matches against India and then Ireland.

He says that his involvement in the game has left him with little time to explore the City.

“There are only three places I have really got to experience in Bangalore and these are the airport, my hotel and the stadium. But so far I have enjoyed every bit of my stay here, be it the weather or the hospitality we have received,” says the all-rounder from the England Cricket Team. One thing is for sure, Michael is definitely overwhelmed by the grand and loud response of the people towards the game.

“Back home we see nothing like this. There is love for the game but it is never expressed in such intensity. I frankly find the crowd very encouraging. Especially in a game like cricket, the crowds’ cheers really gets one charged up,” he explains.

Speaking of the game at large, Michael says that it’s the passion for the game that has kept him going so long. And if there is any other game that tickles his fancy, then its football. “I do enjoy my share of football when I am not playing cricket,” he quips. Interestingly, Michael also enjoys listening to music.

“Music is very relaxing, especially after the practice. I like listening to all genres of music,” he admits.

For the many young aspiring cricketers watching this World Cup and hoping to be a part of it someday, Michael has an advice, “Never give up your dreams. It’s not an easy journey at all, but one should have the passion and work hard towards achieving the goals and the rest will fall in place.”
