Sexual harassment case: J L Puram cops to probe further

The lady who has levelled the charges against the professor, had alleged in her complaint that the accused had tried to outrage her modesty on several occasions at the department itself, that comes under the jurisdiction of Jayalakshmipuram Police Station. Acting on this, the cops had moved court on Tuesday, and the court gave permission for transferring the case on Wednesday.

However, the lady admitted at B M Hospital, is still undergoing treatment.

Ex-MLA, others released

Judge of Fifth Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) and JMFC Mysore on Wednesday granted bail to all the 23 accused, including an ex-MLA arrested for making a vain bid to take out a protest march from K R Circle defying the prohibitory orders of the Police Commissioner on Tuesday.

Advocate A K Vaman who argued on behalf of the accused told Deccan Herald that the Judge M S Harini granted conditional bail against property surety.

Following this, two ladies among the arrested lodged in Central Prisons of Mysore and the remaining 21 including ex-MLA M K Somashekar were released from the sub-jail at Nanjangud where they were lodged.

Chain snatchers arrested

Two youths were arrested on charges of theft and a gold chain worth ` 30,000 has been recovered from them.

Khadir Ahmed, 22 years, alias Dinda, son of Abdul Jabbar of Shanthinagar, and Haleem, 21, sonof Paththe Mohammed, also of Shanthinagar are those two arrested by N R Police. The duo had made away with a gold chain after barging into a house in P and T Colony in Udayagiri Police Station’s limits here on November last. They had entered the house easily as the door was left ajar. They were apprehended on Wednesday, when they were trying to dispose off the stolen good.

Eight held for gambling

Eight people have been arrested on charges of gambling at Mellahalli on the outskirts on Wednesday. South Police swooped on them, when they were playing a card game. An amount of ` 8,040 kept on stake has been recovered during the raid. The raid was led by Circle Police Inspector Gopalakrishna and SI Venkateshaiah.
