Two women end lives

Last Updated 13 September 2012, 19:18 IST

In separate incidents, two garment factory workers allegedly committed suicide in the City on Thursday.

Prabhavathi, 32, wife of Narayanaswamy, was found hanging at her home. She had married Narayanaswamy, a KPTCL employee, 10 months ago and the couple were living in a rented house in Gokulanagar. Police said Prabhavathi was married once before, but had deserted her first husband.

According to the police, the couple had exchanged heated words over a trivial matter on Thursday morning. Prabhavathi asked Narayanaswamy not to go to work as she had also taken leave because of the bus strike. Police suspect that Prabhavathi may have ended her life after Narayanaswamy left for work ignoring her pleas.

When Narayanaswamy called up his house late in the afternoon, he found no response. Rushing back home, he found Prabhavathi hanging from a ceiling fan, police said.
In another incident at Hulimavu, Anasuya, 19, a resident of Basavanapura reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her home on Thursday afternoon.

She had married Girish, a driver, a year ago. Police said that Anasuya hung herself after Girish and his parents left the house. There was no death note, police added.
