Yang Liu, lodged in the district jail here, was taken to hospital for abortion after permission from the High Court in this regard and declined to sign the form to be filled before the abortion, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Sultana Aziz told PTI.

She said that there was no problem in abortion as all her medical reports were normal but refused to sign the form, saying she was not "mentally prepared", Jail Superintendent A K Singh said, adding she was taken back to jail.

The Allahabad High Court had permitted Yang to terminate her pregnancy, who along with her two compatriots was arrested for allegedly entering India illegally.

The Lucknow Bench of the Court had directed Singh to take necessary steps to facilitate her abortion in accordance with rules and regulations.

The trio were reportedly taking pictures of some vital installations when they were arrested.
