Ex-speaker to fight against corruption

The programme would be held at the premises of the District Government Employees Association on Dhanwantri road and is being organised in association with Dr Rammanohar Lohia Trust.

Member of Legislative Assembly V Srinivasa Prasad will inaugurate the interaction. While, socialist and former minister, S K Kantha, former MLA A T Ramaswamy, S S Kheda, another socialist P Mallesh would attend.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Krishna  said the day would also coincide with the 88th birth anniversary of Shanthaveri Gopalagowda, a veteran socialist. “The corruption is growing like a cancerous cell. The forum has been constituted to make a state-wide effort and campaign to stem the growth of this cancer. The forum will create awareness among the youth on Right to Information (RTI) Act,” he stated. He slammed the Union government for lacking political will to recover money stashed in foreign banks.

 Around ` 70 lakh crore has been stashed away in foreign banks, he said adding that the Centre makes no efforts to bring back the black money. The forum would expand its campaign on the issue; he said and added that institutions like Lokayukta should be strengthen to check the corruption menace.

Krishna appealed to the heads of the mutts to support the organisations’ initiative. Member of Legislative Council M N Mahesh, Venugopal of Soraba, Karunakar of Samajwady party others were present.
