Guv enjoys cart ride at Kokkere Bellur

Bhardwaj, accompanied byhis wife Prafullatha, came to Kokkare Bellur at around 5 pm and reviewed the progress done by Departments of Forests and Tourism. Later, talking to reporters, he said Kokkare Bellur was the perfect example of healthy relationship between people and birds. It was very important that nobody disturbs this healthy bond.

Mr and Ms Governor got into a bullock cart and went around the village. The couple were surprised to see groups of pelicans and painted storks perching on trees inside the village. They were briefed by Yatishkumar.

The Governor also visited the Information Centre on birds built at a cost of Rs 73.17 lakh by the Department of Tourism. Assisant director of the department, C S Nagaraj gave information on daily activities including planting of saplings.

Sharing his experience on bullock cart ride, the governor said he too hails from a family of ordinary farmer and had done agriculture too. Riding bullock cart was not new for him. “I am indebted to love and affection showered by the people of village”.

Later, he received a memorandum from noted litterateur, Thailur Venkatakrishna, Raghu, Nagesh and Bommayya on the need for removal of encroachment of Thailur tank.
