Ban on Ramya lifted, film industry crisis blows over

Last Updated 24 March 2011, 18:56 IST

An amicable settlement was arrived at between Ramya and producer Ganesh through conciliatory efforts of veteran actor Ambareesh.

KFCC had imposed the ban on the actor after she and Ganesh had a dispute over the repayment of money she lent to the producer. The issue had threatened to divide the industry.

Ambareesh, president of the Kannada Cinema Artistes’ Association, brokered the settlement at a meeting in his house.

Ramya said: “We have been hearing from elders that the film industry is a big family. I’m very young and low-ranking. I’m lucky to get the support of Ambareesh uncle. All thanks to him. Thanks are also due to the Artistes’ Association and every one else who rallied behind me. I’ll continue to work with every one in future.”

While Ramya was speaking, Ambareesh who flanked her had a word of caution. Ramya will now take part in promoting Dandam Dashagunam.

Basant Kumar Patil, President of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), senior director S V Rajendra Singh Babu, and producer Sa Ra Govindu attended the meeting.
