Ashoka yesterday filed an application seeking quashing of the 23rd Additional Civil and Sessions court order directing the Lokayukta police to probe the complaint against him for alleged illegal acquisition of land causing a loss of Rs 26 crore to the state exchequer.

RTI activist, M Manjunath, who filed the complaint in his sworn statement, had submitted that Ashoka "illegally denotified" 23 guntas (a gunta is 1/40th of an acre) of land in Lottegollahalli which was earlier acquired by Bangalore Development Authority for formation of Raj Mahal Vilas Layout and registered it in his favour.

Ashoka has also sought quashing of the reference to an enquiry under section 202 (1) of Criminal Procedure Code in the order by the lower court. On March 24,the Special Court ordered the Lokayukta police to probe the complaint and submit its report by May 4.
