'SC/STs in Udupi to get health cards'

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Raghupathy Bhat said the SC/ST people coming under CMC limits will be given health cards.

As many as 50,000 health insurance schemes have been issued to the individuals. Free water connections will be made available for the people of Koraga community.

Government has earmarked Rs 3 crore for the welfare programmes catering to the SC/ST community and proposal demanding additional Rs 2 crore has been sent to the government for approval. 

CMC has earmarked Rs 2.10 crore for the welfare programmes of SC/ST, he informed. About 178 students belonging to SC/ST are receiving scholarship of Rs 31,99,001.

 A sum of Rs 7 lakh will be allocated for the construction of the SC/ST hostels in the city, Rs 65,000 for the repair of 13 houses and Rs 50,000 for the repair of community hall.

Bhat distributed cheque for Rs 25,000 to Jalaja Poojarthy of Ambagilu.
