Rs 1.57 cr worth of properties recovered

The recovered properties include vehicles, jewellery, cash, electronic gadgets, foreign currencies and antique idols.

Three held for idol theft

Ramamurthynagar police arrested three persons and recovered an antique ‘panchaloha’ idol of Lord Shiva worth Rs 40 lakh and said to be more than 100 years old. The suspects are Ravindrachari (38) from Sulibele, Srinivas Reddy (41) and Noorsaab Sheikh (60), both from Chintamani.

Tipped off, the police arrested them near MTB Kalyan Mantap on Ring Road in Ramamurthynagar when they were trying to sell the idol.

The suspects had stolen the idol from the house where it was kept, due to the renovation work being undertaken at the Tapteshwar temple in Chintamani.

CCB police recover ganja

CCB police arrested one person and recovered ganja worth Rs 75,000 on Saturday. The suspect is Sanjay (21) from Hosaguddadahalli.

Tipped off, the police arrested him near Theresa Church on ­N M Road in S J Park police station limits.

Another suspect Krishna, a worker in a printing press, managed to escape.

Police said they bought the ganja from a person in Hoskote and were planning to sell it to IT/BT professionals, hoteliers and college students.
