City celebrates Mahavir Jayanthi

The day began with a ‘Maha Mastakabhisekam’ of Lord Mahivira and a special puja. Later, a massive rally in which thousands of devotees took part, was organised with all grandeur and royal decoration.

As part of the celebration, followers of Jainism distributed food packets and rice to the poor people. Also, prayers, decoration of temples, abhishek, processions, lectures, meditations and temple visits were organised on the occasion. At the Jain Charitable Hospital, Tilak Nagar, a free diabetes check-up for 200 people was conducted.

At Town Hall, the celebrations began with a peace march that passed through areas such as Nagrathpet, Chikpet via BVK Iyengar Road before converging at the Freedom Park Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa addressed the gathering. 

At Khandelwal Digamber Jain Samaj, Wilson Garden, the festival was celebrated with the main motto 'live and let live'.
