JOIN USThe women, 35-year-old Suman and 40-year-old Shakuntala, were dragged by their hair, kicked all over and hit hard with sticks allegedly by Shakuntala’s nephew Naresh and his cousin until they breathed their last. Police have arrested both suspects. Police said Naresh was out on parole after his conviction in a rape case.
According to sources, Naresh suspected his aunt and her friend Suman to be indulging in immoral acts. The duo threatened villagers of dire consequences if they intervened when the women were being beaten, police sources said. The blood-drenched bodies of the victims lay in the open till the police arrived on Monday morning following a tip-off.
Rishi Sahu, the village headman said he rushed to the spot and found the women lying dead. Suman’s father Rajinder Singh said he suspected that a few other villagers were also involved in the killing. Senior police officials said they had registered a case of murder.
