"We have received an excess of 20 bookings so far," Performance Cars (division of Infinity Cars) Director Lalit Choudhary, official importers of Aston Martin cars in India, told reporters here.

The 97-year-old car manufacturer, which has gained worldwide fame after being portrayed in James Bond movies, finally forayed onto Indian roads with the opening of their showroom in Mumbai on April 15.

Aston Martin will offer its entire range in India except Cygnet. The range includes the basic V8 Vantage to the ultra-exclusive One-77 Hypercar, he said.

The cars are priced between Rs 1.35 crore to a whopping Rs 20 crore.

"The Indian luxury super car market is emerging over the last four years. Last year, it touched 100 units and this year we are expecting it to double," he said.

Choudhary said most bookings were for the "Rapide" and V8 Vantage S models. The cars, to be imported from the UK, would carry a hefty 110 per cent import duty and would be delivered in two to six months, he said.

Choudhary said they were also planning to open another dealership in Delhi later this year. Besides, there was also a plan to conduct roadshows across various cities including Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad in the coming months as part of creating more awareness on Aston Martin range of cars.

Aston Martin currently has 134 dealerships in 42 countries. The company recently entered Brazil, Chile, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Greece and Taiwan.
