The satellite, launched successfully by PSLV-C16 on April 20 into a polar sun-synchronous orbit is "working satisfactorily," ISRO said in a statement. "The initial phase of operations on the satellite has been completed successfully. The first imagery covering about 3000 km stretch of Indian landmass from Joshimut in Uttarakhand to Kannur in Kerala was received and processed at the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) Earth Station at Shadnagar near Hyderabad," the national space agency said.
Resourcesat-2 has successfully replaced Resourcesat-1, which had outlived its original life.
Two other micro satellites, Youthsat and X-sat (of Nanyang Technical University, Singapore), were launched by the home grown PSLV-C16 rocket on April 20 from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, along with Resourcesat-2.
