JOIN USThe incident happened around 6.15 pm on the elevated flyover near Garvebhavipalya in Electronics City in a bus belonging to Shaba Travels.
The bus was on its way to Hosur. Some passengers noticed thick smoke coming out of the luggage box and alerted the driver. He stopped the bus and asked the passengers to get down immediately. Soon, flames started coming out of the luggage box.
Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire completely. Electric short circuit is said to be the cause for the incident.
The Electronics City traffic police blocked the flyover from both ends, which led to traffic snarls on the service roads. The flyover was reopened for traffic two hours later.
Girl falls to death
A 16-year-old girl died on the spot after she accidentally fell off the third floor of a house in V S Garden of J J Nagar on Thursday evening.
According to police, Shalini, a class IX student of St Theresa’s School in J J Nagar, went to her neighbour’s house with her friends. They all started playing on the terrace. Shalini’s mother Pushpa came out of her house and called her daughter. Shalini rushed to the edge of the terrace to reply. But she slipped, fell to the ground and died.
Shalini is the only daughter of Ravi, an employee of Horticulture Department, and Pushpa.
Student found dead
A second year engineering student of Krishna Engineering College in Sarjapura was found hanging at the college hostel on Thursday evening. Animesh (21) hailed from Jamkhandi in Bagalkot district and was pursuing BE (mechanical).
Animesh went inside the room of a friend and hanged himself. When the friend opened the door, he found Animesh hanging from a ceiling fan, police said.
The cause for the death is not known. In a death note, he said no one was responsible for his death. He had reportedly exchanged heated words with a few foreign students a week ago.
