"I thought there will be a lot of activity here ... introspection, we will be sitting down, reviewing ... somebody will ask me why I won, why we lost, where we lost," he said in an interview to NDTV.

Sinha had resigned from all party posts and demanded that the organisation fix responsibility for the poll debacle.

"I found that there was nothing of that kind happening and that disappointed me," he said.
Describing the meeting of newly elected MPs on May 31 as "somewhat casual", he said, "In a lighthearted manner we tried to explain our defeat....not joking about the defeat but when I say casual...it was not serious."

On why he did not participate in the debate in the Lok Sabha on the Union budget, the former Finance Minister said his party never approached him.

Sinha expressed unhappiness, saying he had presented five budgets and served as Finance Minister for several years.

BJP has, however, maintained that it had asked Sinha to speak on the budget.
