Daily wage worker's son tops college

M Rajash­ekar, son of a daily wage worker, and student of the Government Pre-university College, has secured a grand total of 539 in the commerce stream and has set an example that is worth emulating.

By securing 89.83 per cent he has bagged the first place in the college.

“Rajashekar is a star student of the college, as he pursued his studies despite all odds in a resolute manner. His determination to excel and hardwork has finally borne fruits. He has made both his parents and the college proud. We wish him all the best in all his future endeavours,” said Principal M R Jagadeesh on Wednesday.

The Government Pre-University College in Malur has secured a pass percentage of 60 per cent in the II PUC examination held in the year 2010-11, said the principal.

Speaking after announcing the II PUC results he said this year there has been a two percent increase in the pass percentage, compared to last year.

Of the 546 students who appeared for the exams in 2010-11, 323 students have passed. As many as four students have secured distinction, while 107 students have passed in first class. Whereas 91 students have secured second class and 122 students have just passed.
