Students who have studied electronics and computer science in second year pre-university will not be considered eligible for engineering courses.

Citing All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Approval 2011-12 Handbook, the KEA has stated that the eligibility criteria for admission to engineering/technology courses will be chemistry/bio-technology along with physics and mathematics in the qualifying examination.

Sources in the AICTE said ‘technically’ students who have studied electronics and computer science in PUC will not be eligible for admission to engineering courses. Managements of some pre-university colleges too appeared to be unaware of the new norms. The college authorities contended that students who have studied electronics and computer science were eligible for admission to engineering courses. Comed-K has said that it would go by the AICTE norms.
