Protest against Krishnaiah Setty

The district unit of dalit organisations and the Aikya Vedike activists staged a protest here on Monday, against Malur legislator S N Krishnaiah Setty who was the Housing minister when the alleged irregularity in purchase of land for the Karntaka Housing Board took place.

They took out a protest rally from the College Circle to the Mekke Circle and raised slogans against the chairman of the Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board. They also demanded that Krishnaiah Setty should be suspended from the post of the chairman. The protesters insisted on arrest of Krishnaiah Setty’s brother, Srinivasa Setty who has allegedly purchased the land in Shidlaghatta at a lower rate and sold the same at higher price.

Compensation

Further they argued that the victims of the multi-crore scam in Shidlaghatta should be given compensation.

Later the activists went to the office of the deputy commissioner’s office and submitted a memorandum. 

The members of Indian Republican Party, Dalit Sangharsha Samiti, Adima Shakti Dalit Mahila Okkoota, Vidhyarthi Yuvajana Vedike, Krishi Karmikara Okkoota, Dalit Christians’ Federation and several other organisations took part in the protest. Leaders M Venkataswamy, T Vijayakumar, Hebbal Venkatesh, Rajappa, Narayanappa and Narayanaswamy led the protest.
