The vigilance squad of the Bangalore University on Friday registered a case against the Principal Prof B V Krishnappa and submitted a report to the Vice Chancellor in this regard.
The Sub Divisional Officer P Vasanthakumar has also submitted a report to Deputy Commissioner Dr N Manjula in this regard after a thorough inquiry. The DC has also forwarded the report to the State government.

Defamed
The college has been making news in the last few years due to alleged irregularities during exam time. Even this year during the degree exams, ten students were caught copying and were debarred.

On May 4, the vigilance squad caught a girl student for copying and seized her answersheet. The student was immediately debarred from exams. Later, the squad handed over the answerscript and other documents to the Principal and asked him to send them to the University.

However, even a week after the incident it was found that the Principal had not submitted them to the University, chief officer of the squad Veerabhadraiah told Deccan Herald.

He said Krishnappa forged the attendance book to show that the student was absent on the day and destroyed her answersheet.

Permission granted
Later the principal allowed her to appear for Kannada major and Sociology paper. The other students, who were also debarred, have complained against this, he added.
“When we visited the college on Friday to check the veracity of the complaints, we found that the principal had used whitener to forge the attendance register. We also found proof of the student writing Kannada and Sociology papers.

Influential principal
The involvement of Krishnappa has been established without any doubt. We have seized the attendance register, invigilator’s record book and other documents,” he added.
Veerabhadrappa promised to submit a report to the vice chancellor soon.
According to another member of the squad, the principal is a very influential person.
“He has been boasting that he knows several top level politicians and top officers in the university,” he added.
