Minister promises to break 'jinxed city' tag

He was speaking after laying foundation stone for construction of Karanataka Suvarna Gadi Bhavan and Pre-metric hostel for tribal students at a function organised at Mahadeshwara Government College premises in Kollegal. The ‘Gadi Bhavan’ is being built at a cost of ` 1.25 crore and it would help in the promotion of folklore. The pre-metric  hostel is being constructed at a cost of ` 99 lakhs.

Denying the allegations of opposition leaders that the government has neglected the district,  the minister promised to work towards breaking the myth that Chamarajanagar is a ‘jinx city’ and any CM who visits the city would lose power. The Government has released funds to drinking water projects to supply water to hundreds of villages of Chamarajanagar and Gundlupet taluks. In addition to this, ` five crore had been released for rejuvenation of tanks. Funds had been released to pay monthly pension to specially-abled persons,widows, senior citizens, under various social security schemes, As many as about 30,000 will be benefited under the scheme.
