Woman dies of  burns

A newly-married woman died of burns at her Electronics City residence  Wednesday.
Vanitha (20), was married to Chinnappa, a printing technologist and lived on 2nd Cross, Laxmi Layout, Electronics City, wanted to visit her parents during the day. As it was raining heavily, Chinnappa advised that she go the next day. She then doused herself with kerosene and set herself ablaze, according to her husband.

However, police are investigating on the basis of a complaint from Mani, Vanitha’s uncle, that Chinappa was harassing the girl for dowry.

Rowdy attacked

A rowdy-sheeter sustained injuries after a rival gang member allegedly assaulted him in Hebbal on Thursday night. The injured Mahesh (25) is recovering in a private hospital.

According to sources, Mahesh’s rival gang members accosted him near Hebbal flyover. They allegedly assaulted him with knives and fled. Mahesh took an auto and rushed to the hospital for treatment, added the sources.

He was allegedly involved in an attempt to murder case. He was sent to Central Prisons at Parappana Agrahara. Mahesh came out on bail and allegedly indulged in criminal activities, added the sources.
