Museum: Governor to discuss with centre

Bhardwaj impressed by historic relics in and around Srirangapatna town

During his visit to the summer palace here on Monday, he discussed various issues related to the summer palace with the Deputy Commissioner Dr P C Jaffer.

During his interaction, the Governor was told that the Archaeological Survey of India has proposed to shift the museum from the palace to a separate building. But, the proposal still remains pending with the central government. Tourism secretary has also filed a report on the early transfer of museum.

According to officials who accompanied the Governor and his family, Bharadwaj assured the DC to take up the matter with the ministry concerned. The Governor also assured to talk about various development programmes for the summer palace.

Governor Bharadwaj and his wife, Prafullata commended the maintenance of the paintings, three dimensional painting works of Tipu, line diagrams, weapons and other objects.

Srirangapatna is a famous religious, heritage and a historic centre. All efforts should be done to preserve and protect the monuments, the heritage objects of the town, he said. Governor also visited the Mayura River View resort and Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary.
DC P C Jaffer, Assistant Commissioner G Prabhu and others accompanied the Governor.
