The police said, Chandrashekhar, a beedi shop owner, allegedly harassed his wife Usha (30) and subjected her to wrongful confinement after she opposed his affair with another woman Vanajakshi.
Vanajakshi was also staying in the same house near Central Theatre with the couple for the last six months.
During interrogation, Chandrashekhar told the police he had confined her to the house as she was suffering from mental illness.
The police have detained Chandrashekhar.
