Doyen of Indian Bridge Robi Roy passes away

Known as the doyen of bridge in the country, Roy (80) is survived by his wife and a daughter. Roy started his career in the card games way back in 1952 and continued till 1993.

Besides representing the country in Bridge Olympiad several times, Roy won the pairs event in the Far East Bridge Championship at Tokyo partnering Sudhir Ganguly in 1977 and repeated the feat next year at the same tournament in Delhi partnering  M.S. Tibriwal. He was also member of the team that won the Ruia Gold Cup six times, and the Holkar and Singhania trophy, four times each.
