Helpline for mid-day meal scheme

The helpline will be launched soon for receiving complaints on the mid-day meal scheme programme, said Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri.

The Minister was speaking at the inauguration of a conference with education department officials on the introduction of value education in the syllabus. The move gains importance in the wake of complaints received by the State government.

While some complaints have been received over sub-standard ingredients used for cooking, there have been other complaints about sub-standard meals being given by private agencies and NGOs. There have been several cases of children falling sick due to substandard meals being served to them.
