Plant trees

I had requested the BBMP to plant the trees on 3rd Main, Samrat Layout, Arekere  as well as on the approach road to 3rd Main. I had raised the queries through BBMP SPANDANA February last. It is more than a year now, but no action has been taken in this regard. I have called the  persons concerned many times, but in vain. Could you please raise the issue with BBMP officials and do the needful?

Road in ruins

The road that connects international airport through Nagavara-Thanisandra has been recently widened with nice footpaths. But the end of the road which deviates near Rachenahalli in front of Manjunatha marriage hall has become bad due to incomplete work. Cow dung dumped on the road and overflowing drain cause hardship to motorists. Could the BBMP look into this part of the road and take necessary action at the earliest?

Overflowing septic tank

We have constructed septic tanks in our layout due to lack of drainage. The tank of one of the houses has not been cleaned and sewage overflowing on the road stagnates in front of four houses. It is polluting the whole area. As a result mosquito menace has increased.

No proper roads

The roads in Amco Layout ‘A’ Block have not been asphalted for the last 15-20 years. We don't have proper walkable/motorable access roads to AMCO Layout/Balaji Layout.

Despite paying taxes to the BBMP, none of the engineers/MLA/Corporator is keen to lay roads in the layout. Our requests to the BBMP/ MLA/Corporator have been directed to nearest bins. The roads in our layout are worse than village roads which have tarred and cement roads these days. We request the authorities to provide grants and lay road under Grameena Sadak Yojana scheme, atleast.

Garbage dump on road

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has created a huge garbage dump on the Pottery Road (opposite Canara Mansion building) and next to a BMTC bus stand at Cooke Town.

The stench from the garbage dump is intolerable and affecting the health of the residents in the vicinity. People waiting at the bus stand also find it difficult to breathe the foul air.

During heavy rain, garbage flows with the rain water littering a long stretch of the road, and also chokes the inlets of the stormwater drains. Trucks waiting to lift garbage from the dump also create traffic jam. The residents of the area appeal to BBMP to clear the dump.

Unauthorised shop

An unauthorised shop is being constructed at the entrance of 10th Street, OPH Road (Jumma Masjid Road) in Shivajinagar. The shop is constructed right up to the middle of the road causing hindrance to the flow of traffic. No action has been taken by the BBMP engineers, police, area corporator and MLA. Bescom has given electricity connection to this unathorised shop. Will the BBMP authorities take action and demolish the shop?

Clogged drain on Wheeler Road

The stormwater drain that crosses the Wheeler Road in Cox Town has been choking with sullage. The drain is covered with weeds and has no place for water to flow when it  rains heavily. As a result the surrounding areas are flooded and water enters the houses. My requests to the authorities concerned have fell on deaf ears.  There are hotels and clinics around this place and this drain makes the place unhygienic for them.

Lurching tree posing danger

Atree in front of house No 923 on 1st ‘F’ Main Road in Girinagar second phase is causing inconvenience to the road users.

The tree is 20 years old and has grown erratically. It’s trunk has occupied half of the so-called main road.

The Bescom frequently prunes the branches of the tree which come in the way of its power line. This has caused the tree branches to lurch towards the main road.

The tree has blocked the visibility on road and vehicle drivers on either side of the tree cannot see each other. This may lead to accidents as there is heavy traffic on this road.

Last week, there was heavy wind and a branch fell on the transmission lines snapping power. We request the authorities to take immediate action before any untoward incident occurs.

Blocked drains

The drains in my ward are completely blocked as someone has been pumping sewage into stormwater drain. The problem compounds whenever it rains with water flowing on to the road. Water stagnation sites are turning out to be mosquito breeding grounds, posing a health hazard. We dread the monsoon season as it will cause havoc. Can the authorities solve this problem?

BWSSB responses

Drains blocked

Grievance: The drain on 16th B Main Road which is behind Nandhini Hotel, Koramangala, in Ward 151 is blocked on either end for over a decade and rainwater from the drain flows on the road.

JI Devadatta

No water supply

Grievance: We are not getting water for nearly four months but receiving our water bills regularly, which have been paid up to date.  I reside at 4th main 8th cross, 1st stage 2nd Block, HBR layout, Ward-24. This 4th main is a closed street (dead-end) and all the houses in this street/main road are getting water except mine and few other houses which are located near the dead-end of the street.

Abdul Rasheed, HBR Layout.

Response: The BWSSB engineer has inspected the spot and said that since the area is located in an elevated gradient, the residents are not receiving the water supply.  The AEE will visit spot and efforts will be made to improve the water supply.

Citizens exploited

Grievance: I am a resident of MSR Enclave, opp Appanappa Hall, Hesarghatta road, off Tumkur Road. It has been more than 45 days since we received water and this has been a regular issue here for years.

We are paying Rs 250 per tank of water every alternate day and it is costing us Rs 3,000 per month. The so-called waterman here is arrogant, irresponsible and drunk most of the times. He is not here to help people but to exploit them or stop water supply in sump when they have just started to fill up. He always attends to people who bribe him and supplies water to them regularly. Will the authorities take some action to ensure water supply.

Sunil, MSR Enclave, off Tumkur Road.

Response: The BWSSB engineer has inspected the spot and found four borewells belonging to the Board.  Out of four, two borewells have dried up and the water levels are less in the other two borewells. Water is supplied once in 10 days to this area.

Kempaiah, AEE
