Pak proposes July 11-12 or 25-26 for Foreign Ministers' talks

The dates will be finalised after India responds to the proposal, sources said. The Foreign Ministers will review the discussions held at Secretary-level meetings on various issues, including terrorism, Jammu and Kashmir, Siachen and Sir Creek, over the last four months.

The talks between the Foreign Ministers would be preceded by a meeting of Foreign Secretaries. Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao and her Pakistani counterpart Salman Bashir held talks on Jammu and Kashmir, Peace and Security and Confidence-Building Measures in Islamabad last week.

During the talks, the two sides agreed to initiate a number of confidence building measures in nuclear and conventional fields. At the same time, India made it clear to Pakistan that a resolution to a "complex" issue like Jammu and Kashmir could not be found in the "shadow of the gun".
