Senior IAS official suspended in Bihar

According to a notification issued by state general administration department Kumar K was put under suspension following an FIR lodged against him by state vigilance bureau on July 21, 2010.

Kumar, who held the post of Chief Executive Officer cum commissioner of PMC from February 20, 2009 to February 23, 2010, recently returned from central deputation and was in waiting for posting at present, a notification said, adding he has been suspended with immediate effect.

According to the charges, Kumar and 13 others, including officials and builders, have been charged with causing Rs 8.77 crore loss to the state exchequer between February 20, 2009 and February 23, 2010 by providing undue and illegal benefits to land mafia, developers, builders and hoarding companies when he was at the helm of the civic body.

He is alleged to have cleared altogether 130 building maps during his tenure as CEO of the PMC.

Apart from Kumar, the others named accused in the FIR are then PMC Additional Commissioner Baidyanath Das, then Executive Engineer Brahmdeo Dubey, the then state fire officer Ramesh Chandra and others. Kumar is a 1996 Bihar Cadre IAS officer.
