The unique collection of textiles caters to every age group and occasion. And with the festive season ahead, the expo is one of the best places to shop at.

Organised by Revathi Creative Communications to promote handlooms and help the weaver community, the expo is the third of its kind in the City.  Items on display at the expo include handloom silk and cotton saris, dress materials, kurtas, stoles, dupattas and home furnishings.

An exquisite collection of designer wear in Kalamkari, Gadwal, Uppada, Dharmavaram, Pochampally, Venkatgiri and Mangalgiri, Tussars of Bihar, Kosa, Bandani, Kutch embroidery, Patols of Gujarat, the Kashida saris, shawls and dresses of Jammu and Kashmir are also on sale.

The printed Mysore silk saris, Chanderi and Maheshwari of Madhya Pradesh and Kantha from West Bengal have been attracting huge crowd. “Today, owing to stiff competition from power looms and imports from other countries, the handloom industry is at stake.

This initiative is an effort to uplift the weaver community and make them economically strong. Nowadays, though most of the weaving is done by power looms, the most delicate and sophisticated silks can be woven only on traditional handlooms. Their products displayed here acknowledge this fact with their superior quality and intricate designs,” says M Sarveshwar Reddy, MD, Revathi Creative Communications.

Abdul Azeem, a weaver from Madhya Pradesh, has been displaying his chanderi saris and suits in silk and cotton fabrics. “Events like this give us an opportunity to initiate a dialogue with our customers which help us improve our designs as per their ever changing taste,” he says. His collection is priced between Rs 850 and Rs 5,000.

The expo will be on till July 17, between 11 am and 9 pm, at Sindhoor Convention Centre, 15th Cross, 1st Phase, JP Nagar Ring Road.
