28 projects get green signal

Disclosing this to reporters, Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani said Honda Motors has come forward to set up its scooters and motorcycles manufacturing unit at a cost of Rs 1,350 crore at Narsapur industrial area in Kolar.  Mahindra & Mahindra group has proposed to set up an aerospace component and spare parts unit at a cost of Rs 284 crore at Narsapur. Musashi Auto Parts India Pvt Ltd wants to set up a unit to manufacture bearings, gear, and drive equipment at a cost of Rs 400 crore at Doddaballapur industrial area in Bangalore Rural district.

Britannia Industries will set up a greenfield biscuits and bakery products manufacturing unit with global research and development centre at Doddaballapur Industrial area with an investment of Rs 100 crore.

The HLCC gave its nod for setting up eight sugar factories in Bijapur, Mysore, Bagalkot and Belgaum district at a total cost of Rs 1,900 crore. Later in the evening, at a “curtain raiser” function for Global Investor Meet-2012, Commerce and Industries Department Principal Secretary K Jothiramalingam signed the formal MoUs for  some of the projects with representatives of the firms.

Key projects cleared

* Scooter manufacturing unit of Honda Motors in Kolar at Rs 1,350 crore
* Aerospace component manufacturing unit of Mahindra and Mahindra group in Kolar at 284 crore
* 900-km pipeline laying project from Mangalore to B’lore by Hindustan Corporation Ltd at Rs 610 crore
* Iron ore pelletisation plant by Karnataka Ferro Concent­rat­es in Sandur at Rs 225 crore
* Bearings and gear manufacturing unit by Musashi Auto India Pvt Ltd at Doddaballapur at Rs 400 crore
* Biscuits and bakery products unit by Britannia Industries at Doddaballapur at
Rs 100 crore
* Eight sugar factories in Bijapur, Mysore, Bagalkot and Belgaum at a total cost of Rs 1,900 crore
