Sudhakrishna, the wife of C N Radhakrishna, a resident of R K Layout, Padmanabhanagar, told police that she received a call on Monday, claiming that her husband had been abducted. The caller reportedly told her that her husband would be set free only if a ransom of Rs 1 crore was paid.
Sudhakrishna told police that Radhakrishna went to Gowribidnur on August 3. After he failed to return that night, she called him on his mobile phone. An unidentified person answered the call and told her, in Telugu, that Radhakrishna had been kidnapped. The caller told her to arrange for a ransom of Rs one crore, threatening to eliminate her husband if she failed to do so.
The caller then handed over the phone to Radhakrishna, who old his wife that he was blindfolded and had no idea where he had been kept.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Krishna Bhat said that the caller had still not been identified. “We are yet to ascertain why Radhakrishna has been kidnapped. The matter is sensitive and is under investigation,” he said, refusing to divulge further details.
