Unfriendly buses

The foot boards in some of the BMTC buses are badly designed, making it difficult for passengers.

The height of the foot boards is almost three feet above the ground. The worst sufferers are the elderly, women and children.  BMTC engineers should rectify the problem in the interest of passengers.

Unauthorised parking

The 4th Cross in I Block, RT Nagar has turned into a virtual parking zone with many cars/taxis parked alongside houses in the area.
Residents feel insecure as there have been instances of purse snatching, a few months ago in the locality. Complaints to the local police have proved futile.
Senior police officers must look into the matter and resolve this issue.

Driving licence woes

I  had applied for the renewal of my driving licence at the K R Puram RTO on June 1, 2011. I received my smart card driving licence after 23 days. To my surprise, I noticed that the licence is valid only for six months.
As per rules, those aged 50  and above are issued licences for a period of five years. I approached the RTO officials and was told that I must apply for renewal once again in December. Will the officials concerned look into the issue immediately?

No water

The houses at the end of the street behind BSNL customer service centre on 4 ‘G’ main road of HRBR II Block in Kalyan Nagar have not been supplied water for the last eight months.

It is not understood why the engineers concerned are doing nothing to increase the pressure of water, so that it reaches the houses at the end of the street which are at a slight elevation.

Garbage collection

BBMP has not made necessary arrangements for house-to-house collection of garbage in Mahadevapura of Varthur on Airport Road.

The arrangements should have been made before collecting the garbage cess. Our complaints in this regard have gone in vain.

Repair damaged road

Residents in Syndicate Bank Colony of Arakere on Bannerghatta Road had good roads for the past few years.

In June this year, BWSSB  took up the work of laying drainage pipes by digging in the middle of the roads in the entire layout.

The work went on for two weeks and all of a sudden the workmen disappeared, leaving the work mid-way. The roads were dug up were not even filled up properly. This has caused a lot of inconvenience to the people of this layout, as the rains have added to the misery.

Often, vehicles get stuck in the mud, while negotiating the roads. Hope, the authorities do the needful at the earliest.

Road encroachment

The 4th cross road in Kuvempunagar (ward-11) is the main road connecting all arterial roads in the area. Construction material or debris is dumped on both sides of the  road.
There are also instances of logs of wood being dumped and cows being tethered on the roadside by some residents.

One can find cow dung and cow urine everywhere. During the rainy season, the situation is worse.

Pedestrians and motorists have a tough time passing through the road because of the overwhelming foul smell.

Recently, underground drainage work was undertaken, adding to the problems. Will the BBMP authorities act at the earliest?

Change of bus route

For more than 10 years now, BMTC bus route number 296 ‘B’ had been plying via III Block of HBR Layout with a stop opposite Vinayaka Temple between 6th Main and 7th Main on the Vinayaka Temple Main
Road.
For the past one month, this bus is taking a different route via the depot and Hennur Cross.

This bus was very convenient for office goers. A memorandum was submitted to the  authorities concerned. But without any positive response.

The BMTC is requested to restore the bus facility. Buses from the area to City Market, Shivajinagar, Kempegowda Bus Terminus, JP Nagar and Malleswaram via Vinayaka Temple Main Road or BDA Complex, HBR Layout III Block are also needed.

Layout sans basic amenities

We, the residents of about 40 houses in Krishna Kamala Enclave, Uttarahalli, face the problems of poor water supply and uncleared garbage.
The water supply in our Layout is being managed by an association.
The source of water – a borewell – dried up in summer. There is no water supply and the residents are forced to fetch water through tankers.

Cauvery water supply pipes have been laid in and around our layout and Uttarahalli.
While several areas have been given connection, our layout has been neglected. Further, there are no proper roads in the layout and the ones laid long ago are in bad shape.

Garbage is not cleared regularly and vacant sites have become dumping grounds. Will the authorities concerned provide us the basic amenities like drinking water and clean environment as we are also paying taxes and levies?

Water woes

Some stretches of the Charles Campbell Road and Cox Town have gone without water for the past 25 days. The residents are at a loss to know whether it is the valvemen who are at fault or the officials concerned. We request the officials to look into the residents’ problems.

Music system not working

About Rs one lakh has been spent by BBMP to provide music systems with 35 speakers at Srikanteshwara Park of BSK 2nd stage in Channammanakere Achukattu.
For the past three months, the music systems have not been functioning. I request the BBMP to take steps to repair the music systems at the earliest.

Fleecing auto drivers

The autorickshaw drivers in Hoodi have been fleecing passengers. They refuse to go by the meter fare and demand Rs 50 even for distances not more than a kilometer.
This has been happening for the past three years.
Will the authorities concerned take action against erring drivers?

Residents of
Hoodi

Dangerous flyover

The authorities have unscientifically constructed 15 speed-breakers on either side of the Mysore Road flyover. This has resulted in problems for the commuters. There are instances of vehicles skidding whenever the drivers apply the brake.
Also, many buses (private and government) stop on the flyover to take in passengers on the market stretch of the flyover. Pedestrians walk up the flyover from the city market to catch the buses. Will the authorities concerned take remedial action, before a major accident occurs on the flyover?

Ganesh, Bangalore

Bus pass problem

In the 70s, the then BTS had bifurcated its services into Black Board and Red Board to differentiate the buses which were plying within the City Corporation (BMP) limits and those which went beyond the Corporation Limits.

It had fixed different fares for the two categories.
The same bifurcation is being continued by BMTC, without giving any consideration to the expanded area of the City Corporation (BBMP).

Because of this anomaly, one is forced to buy the Red Board pass costing Rs 725 even for travelling only within the Corporation Limits as there are no Black Board buses available to places like Hebbal, Kammanahalli, Lingarajapuram and Tannery Road, even though these places are now well within the present BBMP limits.

BMTC must extend the Black Board services up to route number 499 or implement single fare passes for all its services.

Residents of
Hebbal

Increase road width

On the 5th main road of Lakshmidevinagar (ward 42), BBMP recently constructed a footpath, reducing the road width to only 25 feet. Commuters are facing problems, especially while negotiating the curves. I request the authorities to reduce the width of the footpath, so that the people are free from the inconveniences.

Santosh, No 94, 1st Main, Lakshmidevinagar

Water supply affected

Residents of Narasimha Block/Chikkanna Layout, coming under E-3 sub-division, ward number 31, are facing severe water problems for the past six months.
All the houses up to the 4th cross are getting water regularly, but water supply has been affected on the 2nd and 3rd cross, due to low water pressure. Complaints to BWSSB officials have gone in vain.

Abdul Khader and others,  Narasimha Block/Chikkanna Layout, I Cross, Shampur Road, K G Halli
