MSR College takes the cake

The colleges chose various themes under the two broad categories — Ethnic and Western. A number of colleges chose to dress up in traditional outfits depicting the cultural diversity of India while others chose to wear Western formals or casuals.

A few themes stood out like ‘Psychopath’ by St Joseph’s College of Arts and Science and a theme on Sufism by M S Ramaiah College of Arts and Science.

The judges at the show were renowned fashion designer Pavithra , model Priya Baik and actresses Radhika Gandhi and Neettoo. The students incorporated their creativity into designing outfits made of jute and tule and other usual materials. There was a balance of Ethnic and Western where students chose to showcase traditional men’s and women’s wear from the different states of the country. For Western, students showcased formals and casuals depicting everyday wear ad office wear.

The choice of songs ranged from Bollywood numbers for the teams who chose ethnic to peppy English songs for those who chose Western which the audience loved. The show was choreographed by Mithilesh Nythappa. The Masters of Ceremony for the evening were Hemant Kumar and Kenneth and the music was by DJ Sandeep.

The winners for the evening were MS Ramaiah College of Arts and Science for their Sufi theme. The first runner-up was M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology for their English Tea Party theme, followed by Mount Carmel College for their ethnic round. These three teams will proceed to the Grand Finale at the Mount Carmel College on September 10. The next round on August 27 will be the East-West preliminary zone at CMRIT followed by the South Zone at Dayanand Sagar Institute on September 3.
