Ending issues

“The end was a big issue. Anurag and I completely disagreed on the end,” she said. “The film is very stark, grey, numbing and depressing and I wanted that the main protagonist rises above it somehow, but Anurag wanted to show that this is a bad world and you don’t always get solutions to your problems,” she added. “In a way he is right, I had to agree with him eventually because, if you have a happy ending then people go away satisfied but if there is a sad ending then people keep thinking about it. So that’s more impactful in a way,” Kalki said.

 The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah and is slated for a September 2 release.
