Judicial custody of Kattas extended

Last Updated 05 September 2011, 18:10 IST

The Court is hearing the matter related to a land scam by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board, which was investigated by the Lokayukta police.

Judge N K Sudhindra Rao accepted the jail superintendent’s report that Katta Subramanya Naidu was being treated as an in-patient and therefore was unable to attend the Court proceedings.

Katta Jagadish and Srinivas were, however, present in the Court.

Srinivas made a plea to the Court stating that he had been complaining about a heart problem since Sunday evening and that he had not received adequate medical attention.
He further stated that only an ECG was done and no further medical care was given. He also claimed that he was being humiliated by the jail authorities. Following this, Judge N K Sudhindra Rao ordered issue of notice to the jail superintendent stating that proper attention and medication be given to the accused.

Further, the counsel for Srinivas also sought permission to take him to Vikram hospital instead of Victoria Hospital, where the jail inmates are usually treated. The Court, however, refused to intervene in this regard and left the matter to the discretion of the jail superintendent.
