Deputy Director Mines & Geology, Asst nabbed for taking bribe

A S Umashankar, Deputy Director Mines and Geology and P Narayanappa, Second Division Assistant in the department were nabbed while receiving bribe amounts of Rs 3,000 and Rs 500 respectively from a granite quarry owner for renewal of stone quarry licence in Ramanagar, a Lokyukta statement said.

They had demanded bribe of Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively, out of which the two had already received Rs 2,000 and Rs 2,500, it said.
