Instead, it will reopen the 22-year-old centre and appoint critical clinical staff.
Water Resources and district in-charge Minister Basavaraj Bommai, after a review meeting here on Wednesday, said the cancer hospital will be a full-fledged unit run by the government.

Replying to the issue raised by Congress MLA Dr Sharanprakash Patil with reference to an article published in Deccan Herald, Bommai said: “The Government was apprehensive of its accessibility to the poor if the centre was privatised.”

“However, the government has kept the option open for affiliating it to government medical institutions,” he added.

Radiation therapist and physicist will be appointed soon.
