But definitely, there’s some churning on in the land of the iron ore, post the arrest of former minister Janardhana Reddy by the CBI.

As a first indication of the trend, posters with pictures of the Reddy brothers have disappeared from vantage locations in the city, as if in a trice.

Posters without their photographs are replacing the ones displaying them prominently in the last two days. All these days, flexiboards, buntings, banners, cut-outs and hoardings all had pictures of none, but the mining barons and their aides at the Gadigi Chennappa Circle, Sudha Circle, Moti Circle, Kanaka Durgamma Temple Circle, Raghava Kalamandira Circle and S P Circle.

Publicity materials with the pictures of the ruling BJP leaders, in a different posture every other day, have now done a vanishing act.

BJP’s influence has been so deep-rooted in the city and district for the past few years that the Congress had to scrounge around the city to find space to put up its posters, during its Bangalore-Bellary ‘Nadarakshana Nadige’ rally held in August last year.

The BJP had already put up posters at prominent junctions, of its Swabhimani Samavesha and the mass marriage programme of the Sriramulu Abhimani Balaga that was to be held after the Congress rally.

Moreover, the BJP-ruled City Corporation would never bother to remove posters of the ruling party leaders, even several days after the programmes. In stark contrast, the civic body did not waste any time in removing publicity materials of the ‘Nadarakshana Nadige’ rally.

Posters with pictures of Janardhana Reddy and Sriramulu wishing the people for Ramzan and Ganesh Chaturthi had been displayed prominently. But, they were hastily removed on Wednesday.
