Kittu of Ballupet in Sakleshpur taluk, married Shobha, who was pregnant with his child by then, after making several attempts to escape from the scene, and especially after a failed attempt of forcefully aborting the foetus, without Shobha’s knowledge, on the pretext of getting her homeopathic treatment.

Shobha had then sought the help of Sahayavani. Attempts to engage Kittu in a dialogue had not yielded desirable results since the latter was noncommittant about the nature of his relationship with Shobha. A complaint was lodged against Kittu and even the homeopath who unsuccessfully tried aborting without patient’s consent was arrested.

Subsequent to this, Kittu had taken Shobha to another hospital and ensured the abortion took place, and had kept Shobha at a place where no one could contact her.

When the police started enquiring on Shobha’s whereabouts, Kittu was forced to bring Shobha to Hassan.

The police extracted an undertaking from Kittu about his behaviour and got the couple married at Ganesha temple in Hassan.

The marriage took place with the timely intervention of Tarunya Santvana Kendra, an NGO based in Sakleshpur. The marriage was even registered at the sub registrar office. Women and Child Welfare Officer Chidanand, Tarunya Santvana Mahila Sahayavani Director B P Rajamma were present on the occasion.
