AICTE scale for medical college teaching faculty

Govt to issue notification soon, says Ramdas

The state government has approved revising the pay scale of teaching professionals in medical colleges on lines of AICTE pay scale, said Medical Education Minister S A Ramdas here.

“Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has approved for AICTE scale for teaching professionals in medical colleges and hospitals. The government will issue a notification with effect to new scale in15 days. It will cost the exchequer an additional Rs 5.5 crore from next year,” he said.

He was speaking after inaugurating new facilities at Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research here on Friday. The government was ready to extend more facilities in hospitals and medical colleges for which the doctors should serve the society with dedication, he said.

To increase seats

“The government intends to increase the medical seats in Belgaum and Mysore medical colleges and is preparing the groundwork providing newer infrastructure.
The state will be made a hub of health sector and medical education.

A panel led by Dr Devi Shetty would submit its recommendation on bringing reforms in nursing and paramedical staff,” Ramdas said.

On the proposal to proposal to regulate private medical colleges and hospitals, Ramdas said the draft Private Medical colleges and Hospital Control Act was prepared. The legal department has cleared the draft. The bill would be tabled in the house soon, he added.

“The bill seeks to reserve 33 per cent of beds to poor in private hospitals and also offer discounts and subsidised medical treatments to the weaker sections of society,” the Minister stated.
