Speaking at the valedictory of “World of Books”, BU’s book festival, he said that a mobile library is important at the taluk level because when the people cannot come to the library to borrow books, then the books should be taken to them.

As many as 250 stalls were set up at the book fest which concluded on Sunday. The best book stall award in English books went to Hatchette India and in Kannada to Sahitya Bhandara.

In the ‘other stalls’ category, Page 3 and Faber Castell got the awards. Page 3 which deals exclusively in design books from architecture to interiors and fashion is the only such store in the entire state, claims owner Vinay Sachdeva. “We have been participating in book shows for the past seven years. The crowd that comes here is not very much our kind, although a few professionals and students are interested.”

Discount

Most stores provided a special discount of around 20 per cent on an average. Newly renovated National Book Trust’s store in Basavanagudi, had its stalls in this book fest with books in seven languages.

Popular actor Puneet Rajkumar presented awards to the best book stalls in English and Kannada category.
