'Gas trouble' continues in DK, Udupi districts

As many as 87,775 LPG connections in Dakshina Kannada district and 49,477 connections in Udupi district may be considered as illegal, if the customers fail to provide basic documents within the stipulated time. 

According to the statistics provided by Food and Civil Services Department, the five taluks of the Dakshina Kannada district have 3,34,877 LPG connections, including 2,34,895 connections in Mangalore taluk. Among this, 1,584 connections are under suspension as the respective customer has failed to provide RR number. Another 4,036 connections are under suspension following mismatch in the RR number.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Dakshina Kannada district Food and Civil Service Department Deputy Director Sharanabasappa said that many LPG connections are still in verification stage.

The officials are verifying the details of 35,136 connections, as they have more than one LPG under one RR number. Besides, the details of 3,366 connections with commercial RR number are also being verified, he said.

Similarly, the Udupi district has a total number of 1,79,371 LPG connections, out of which 49,477 connections are under suspension. Out of the same, 549 connections have been suspended as they don’t have any RR number while 3,058 connections are under suspension following mishmatch of RR number.

Sharanabasappa said that the process of verification is going on as the government is yet to announce the last date.

Giving details about the progress in verification of the LPG connections, he said that a total of 2,47,102 LPG connections in Dakshina Kannada have been processed and details pertaining to 1,96,810 connections have been found legal. In Udupi district, a total of 1,29,894 connections have been verified and 1,09,731 connections have bee accepted.
