Summit on trade, regional co-operation

High-level delegations from 18 countries will take part in the 11th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Co-operation, a group of Indian Ocean-rim countries, whose aim is to facilitate trade and investment in the region.

Chief Secretary S VRanganath held a meeting at Vidhana Soudha to work out the logistics for the summit, being held under the aegis of the ExternalAffairs Ministry.

The summit will discuss policy measures to promote sustainable growth and balanced development of the region and will also focus on areas of economic co-operation to provide opportunities for development, shared interest and mutual benefits.

It will work for a free and enhanced flow of goods, services, investment and technology within the Indian Ocean rim.
