Mudipu-Bakrabail road a nightmare

Last Updated 20 September 2011, 18:15 IST

One need to search for the existence of the road in this stretch. The road is a finest example for how the elected representatives and the government has been neglecting the rural roads, say villagers.

The condition of the road has been the same for the last several months. Inspite of submitting memorandum to the elected representatives, no measures have been taken to repair the road. Mudipu has been considered as a developing region in the district and several private buses and vehicles ply on the road daily. However, with huge potholes on the road, the road has been filled with slush water, posing danger to the riders. A huge crater on Bakrabail bus stand is posing threat to the vehicle users as the vehicle gets struck in the pothole, creating traffic jam. The road at Thaleki and Balepuni region have caved in, creating inconvenience to the road users. Inspite of ban on sand mining, hundreds of lorries transport sand illegally in the region, thus damaging the road, said villagers. Hundreds of students from Bakrabail Salethoor region ply to Mangalore and Mudipu on the same road. Owing to the pathetic condition of the road, students and office goers are not able to reach in time. “Several accidents have taken place in the region. Many have broken their limbs as well,” said another villager.

The villagers have warned of staging protest, if the authorities fail to respond to the woes of the villagers at the earliest.
