Two killed, 38 hurt in mishap

Around 40 people were travelling by a tempo to Bidar from Madanur village in Aurad taluk to attend the funeral of their relative. The vehicle was parked on the road side near Honnikeri cross as the passengers wanted to answer the call of nature.

A truck heading to Bidar rammed into the stationary tempo killing Shivaraja Havagirao Biradar (58) and Shivakumar Naganath Sanghavi (40) on the spot. Sanghavi was the driver of the tempo.

The remaining 38 passengers were injured in the accident, eight of them seriously. One was injured on head and another’s leg was severed.

The police, who rushed to the spot, shifted the injured to the district hospital in Bidar.
