As many as 1,200 policemen will be on the streets patrolling the city. “We have mobilised police personnel including the Commissioner of Police , the Additional Commissioner of Police and other top brass who will be on duty,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) R A Poojar.

The City Armed Reserve (CAR) Police have also been roped in. In all, nearly 2,000 policemen will be managing the show on Independence day. “There will 15 platoons who will be providing the cover around the Parade Ground where the flag hoisting ceremony will be held,” Poojar said.

Traffic diversion

Meanwhile, in view of the ceremonies to be held in the Raj Bhavan, the city will witness minor traffic diversions with the Raj Bhavan Road to be shut for the high tea to be hosted by the Governor.

All those vehicles intending to reach the destination via Raj Bhavan Road on August 15, will have to take the Cunnigham Road via Balekundri Circle and turn in front of Chandrika Hotel.
